Standup Comedy Classes
Whether you want to hone your developed craft or dare to tell jokes about your life, my class offers a personalized approach for any level of experience with the goal of helping you to find their voice.
Standup comedy is a magical space. (You will hear more about the word “magical” in my class.) A place where all the hidden parts of you are allowed to come out and party. I have been performing comedy for 15 years. I aim to encourage myself and my students to find the comedy material that teeters on the edge of vulnerability. Sometimes I think comedy is the last place in American culture where humanity, in all it’s weirdness, is tolerated. I was called “the real deal” by friend/mentor Maria Bamford. And, after taking her class, a former student wrote this piece,” I Took A Standup Class and It Was Better Than Therapy.

Testimonials
I had always dreamed of doing stand-up but was terrified and had no idea how to turn my rambling stories into actual jokes. Solange helped me write, perfect and perform a 10-minute set that had my friends in hysterics. I learned more about writing and performing comedy in a month than I thought was possible.

(“I Took A Standup Class and It Was Better Than Therapy.“)Solange is the best teacher I could have asked for. I was very nervous to take a stand up class, but her supportive, non judgmental approach quelled all my nerves immediately. I was able to face my fear of public speaking, gain confidence and learn how to structure and deliver jokes! I highly recommend taking Solange’s class!
—Tobie LaSalandra
Solange pushed me to write outside of my typical jokes.
—Samer Esmail
I absolutely loved it!

Solange is a great teacher. She has a talent for recognizing and drawing out the strengths in people which enables them to develop their unique comedic voices. Some of the benefits I gained from Solange’s class included understanding joke structure, developing stand-up material for a show, gaining confidence in front of an audience. I also saved wear and tear on my car. Why drive all the way Hollywood to take a class in some seedy building when you can do the same on the Westside?
— Joe Fankhauser
Solange’s class is perfect for comics starting out or seasoned comics just wanting creative camaraderie. It’s a safe place and Solange has a plethora of comedic knowledge that she shares freely. I highly recommended this class and throughly enjoyed it!

Solange fosters a warm, friendly, fun atmosphere. She makes it easy as possible to take risks and has you performing in short order. She’s also hilarious, knows the LA comic scene, and co-hosts an open mic. Get your stand-up sea legs here.
